The 30th Lady of La Vang Pilgrimage Festival was solemnly organized at the Our Lady of La Vang Pilgrimage Centre (Hai Phu commune, Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province) from August 13 to 15, 2014 with the title “New family evangelization”.
Attending the Festival were three archbishops, including Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, non – resident special envoy of the Vatican to Vietnam, 13 bishops, 300 priests 200 clergymen and about 150 thousand Catholic followers. The three-day event included: the opening ceremony, Procession of Saint Sacrament on August 13th; Presentation and discussion on the theme “family evangelization” with Bishop Nguyễn Văn Khảm as the speaker on August 14th; Lady of La Vang Procession and Closing ceremony chaired by Archbishop Francis Xavier Lê Văn Hồng of Hue Archdiocese, Vice-Chairman of Vietnam Bishops conference.
As compared to last year’s festival, the 30th Lady of La Vang Pilgrimage Festival was held with a larger scale and a better planning. Local authorities in Quang Tri province well coordinated with the Catholic Church in transportation, health care, environmental protection…. Particularly, the road from the intersection with National Highway No 1A to the Our Lady of La Vang Pilgrimage Centre has been completed, creating favorable conditions for pilgrims to the 30th Lady of La Vang Pilgrimage Festival
