Thanh Liet temple festival in Nghe An receives national title for intangible cultural heritage

A ceremony for receiving the certificate recognizing Thanh Liet temple festival in Nghe An province’s Hung Nguyen district on the national list of intangible cultural heritages was held on March 10.

Attending the event included Deputy Director of Deparmtent for Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nông Quốc Thành and representatives from local authorities and a large number of local people

Thanh Liet temple located in Hung Lam commune was built in the later Le Dynasty. The temple honors and worships gods who provided protection and made great contributions to the country.

With a unique architecture, the temple was recognized as national historical relic and architecture in 1997.

Thanh Liet temple festival is held annually on the 5th – 6th day of the second lunar month and aims to preserve cultural values of the nation and meet spiritual needs of people.

Folk games at the festival

The ceremony also kicked off Thanh Liet temple festival 2019. This year, the festival featured various activities including traditional rituals, offering incense ceremony, boat racing, art performances, and folk games.
