Thanh Hoa provincial government holds Christmas meeting with Catholic dignitaries

Authorities of Thanh Hoa province held on December 16 a meeting with Catholic dignitaries, ahead of Christmas 2022.

The event saw the presence of Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee Đỗ Trọng Hưng, Bishop Joseph Nguyễn Đức Cường of Thanh Hoa diocese and priests, sisters of Catholic congregations in the diocese.

During the meeting, while extending best wishes and merry Christmas to the bishop, priests and all lay parishioners in the diocese, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Đỗ Trọng Hưng briefed results of socio-economic development in 2022, as well as highlighted practical contributions, especially supports extended to the Covid-19 prevention work, made by local Catholic people.

For his part, Bishop Joseph Nguyễn Đức Cường took the chance to thank local authorities for favorable conditions extended to religious practices of Catholicism over the past years. The bishop also stated that Catholic priests, sisters and lay followers in the diocese would continue making practical contributions for socio-economic development in the locality.
