Thai Vi Temple festival 2021 in Ninh Binh province’s Hoa Lu district took place on April 26 (the 15th of the third lunar month).

As one of activities of the National Tourism Year of Ninh Binh 2021 with theme "Hoa Lu - Ancient capital of a thousand years", this year Thai Vi temple festival was held on a large scale to honor and do highlight special historical and cultural values ​​of this relic.

The event drew the presence of representatives of concerning local authorities, and large numbers of locals and visitors.

Thai Vi temple festival is a tradition of local people annually held to honor merits of Kings of Trần Dynasty, especially King Trần Thái Tông who found Ninh Hai commune.

According to history, in 1258, King Trần Thái Tông came to the mountains of Truong Yen to practice Buddhism after passing the throne to his son. He asked for the construction of Thai Vi temple, as well as recruited migrants to build villages and expand cultivating lands and traveling roads.

On the 15th day of the third lunar month in 1288, King Trần Nhân Tông and relatives gathered at Thai Vi temple to hold a ceremony for informing the ancestors the victory of the 3rd resistance war against Nguyen Mong. Since then, the 15th day of the third lunar month every year has become the traditional festival of Thai Vi temple.

Thai Vi temple relic site was ranked as a national historical and cultural relic site by the Ministry of Culture and Information in 1994.

The festival features the cultural show of the Northern Delta region with traditional worshipping rituals of procession, incense offering, and thanksgiving, etc.

During this year festival, the organizing board strictly implemented measures for the Covid-19 prevention including body’s temperature measuring, face masks, and hand washing with antiseptic.
