08/11/2014

As one of Buddhist activities planned for 2014, from July 24 to 27, 2014, Tu Xuyen pagoda (Hoang Dieu ward, Thai Binh city) held a 4th summer course for youth. The course attracted over 800 youth in the locality and provinces of Son La, Nam Dinh and Hanoi city.

The summer course program included many diverse and practical contents. The youth were introduced about such basic concepts of Buddhism as the Three Refuges, Five Precepts, Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma and Sangha), the meaning of taking refuge in the Three Jewels and the Buddhist Parents’ Day Festival, in order to encourage the youth to choose good habits and healthy life style. The Management Board organized sharing sessions for the youth to learn more about life skills, lessons about happiness and courage to overcome difficulties. Especially, the Dharma talk “finding yourself” helped youth to answer questions on Buddhist Dharma and today’s life. In addition, the youth also took part in interesting game shows, such as “Tu Xuyen got talent”, football competition, martial arts demonstrations,…

To improve the quality of the summer course for youth, Venerable Thích Thanh Định, Abbot of Tu Xuyen pagoda invited monks from Sung Phuc Zen monastery (Gia Lam district, Hanoi city), Ba Vang pagoda (Uong Bi town, Quang Ninh), Hoang Phap (Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh city) and nun Thích Nữ Hương Nhu, member of the Central Propagation Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to attend some activities at the course.

The summer course for the youth at Tu Xuyen pagoda was held every year in recent years and received high appreciation and support from the local authorities.
