The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology held on February 04 a program for introducing Vietnamese Tet (Lunar New Year) on occasion of Kitchen Gods Day (the 23rd of the twelfth lunar month).
The event themed “Vietnamese Tet – Sacred Space” drew the participation of a large number of folk researchers and artists.
The event featured series of activities including the raising of Tet tree (Neu), exchanges on meaning of worshipping offerings and altar during Kitchen Gods Day (the 23rd of the twelfth lunar month) and Tet festival, writing calligraphy, printing Dong Ho paintings; making Chung cake, etc.
The event also featured Water Puppet performance and folk games traditionally played during Tet holiday by some Vietnamese ethnic groups, such as: fighting buffaloes, catching chunks in jars, hitting buffaloes, tug of war, etc.
