A ceremony for official announcement of the abbot appointment for Quan Am pagoda in Tay Ninh province’s Chau Thanh district was held on March 27.
Attending the ceremony included Most Venerable Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Discernment Council Thích Tịnh Khai, Most Venerable Chairman of Tay Ninh provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Thông Nghiêm, Vice Chairman of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Giang Ngọc Trực and Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Vĩnh Thế.
During the appointment ceremony, Vice Chairman Giang Ngọc Trực presented a certificate merit of Tay Ninh provincial People’s Committee Chairman to Venerable Thích Thiện Chơn – the new Abbot of Quan Am pagoda, for his contributions to social-charitable activities in the province in 2015.
On this occasion, Venerable Thích Thiện Chơn also presented 200 gift boxes to the poor in the locality.
