The Representative Committee of Tay Ninh province Islamic Community held its second congress for 2015 – 2020 tenure at Nourul Islam Mosque in Tan Chau district on April 20.
Attending the Congress were over 200 followers from the Tay Ninh Islamic Community and representatives from the Representative Committee of Islamic Communities in An Giang, Ninh Thuan and Ho Chi Minh city.
Distinguished guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Dương Ngọc Tấn, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Trần Lưu Quang and local authorities’ representatives.
The Congress elected the new 17-member Representative Committee for the next term with Mr. Haji Chàm Sá reelected as Head of the Committee.
On this occasion, Tay Ninh province People’s Committee presented a certificate of merit to one organization and 15 individuals for their outstanding achievements in religious affairs in the term 2010 - 2015
Tay Ninh province is home to nearly 4,000 Islamic followers, mainly residing in districts of Tan Chau and Tan Bien, and provincial city Tay Ninh, with six mosques and one sub-mosque.
