The Suk-yeng festival 2020 kicked off by an opening ceremony held on January 03 at Thanh Tin temple in Ninh Thuan province.
The opening ceremony saw the presence of Mrs. Trần Thị Minh Thu, Deputy Director of the Belief and Other Religions Department under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, Mrs. Trần Thị Anh Hoàng, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial Commission for Mass Mobilization, Chief of the Bani Islamic community’s Dignitary Council in the province Nguyễn Lài, representatives of local authorities, and Bani Islamic followers in the province.
The Suk-yeng festival is held every three years on Friday of seven consecutive weeks at seven temples respectively in the locality. This year festival will conclude on February 14 at Tuan Tu temple.
During the event, Cham Bani Muslims in the province pilgrimage to Bani temples and pray together for favorable weather, peace and prosperous nation, as well as have exchanges on traditional customs and practicing rituals of the community.
At the festival, the dignitary council often issues regulations for the practice of cultural rituals at Bani Islamic temples including wedding, funeral and communal festivals, contributing to preserve and promote fine culture values of the community, as well as strengthen the solidarity among dignitaries and followers.
