State President pays Tet visit to Long Xuyen diocese cathedral

State President Trương Tấn Sang paid a Tet visit to Long Xuyen diocese cathedral on Jan 27.

Joining the visit were Secretary of An Giang provincial Party Committee Phan Văn Sáu; Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Phạm Dũng and representatives from central agencies and local authorities.

During the visit, President Trương Tấn Sang extended new year wishes to Catholics in Long Xuyen diocese and congratulated Bishop Bùi Tuần on occasion of his 88th birthday and 40th Bishopric year.

Speaking to Bishop Bùi Tuần, State President Trương Tấn Sang highlighted roles of bishops and Catholic dignitaries in guiding and encouraging Catholics to perform their religious and civic duties on the path of accompanying the nation. 

Bishop of Long Xuyen diocese Trần Xuân Tiếu expressed his sincere thanks to the Party and State for favorable conditions for religious and social activities of Catholics in the process of building and protecting the country.
