The 5th Congress (47th Congress according to the Church’s history) of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (South) was solemnly started on July 18 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The ceremony was presided over by Pastor President of the ECVN (South)'s Executive Committee Phan Vĩnh Cự and attended by over 3,000 Protestant pastors, dignitaries, deacons and followers from provinces under the Southern ECVN from Quang Tri to Ca Mau province.
Distinguished guests at the opening ceremony of the 5th congress included Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Tấn Hùng and representatives of concerning State authorities.
The agenda of the five-day congress taking place till July 21 includes ordainment of pastors, approval of reports and election of the executive committee for the fifth tenure (2017-2021).
