Soldiers and lay Catholics in Nghia Hung well perform mass mobilization work

The Military Command in Nam Dinh province’s Nghia Hung district has launched many creative measures for the mass mobilization work as well as mobilized local people and Catholics to well perform the Party and State’s guidelines and policies, contributing to build a strong political system.

In Dai De Catholic parish in Nghia Son commune, Nghia Hung district, local authorities have closely worked with religious dignitaries for carrying out the communication and the mass mobilization works, as well as for timely addressing practical issues for better meeting legitimate needs of local people.

According to Priest Vincent Lại Văn Quynh, Head of Dai De parish, the parish has four chapels with over 2,200 parishioners, whose economic activities mainly attached to agriculture, small businesses and boat-making, etc. Responding a program for developing new-style rural areas, the parish has coordinated with local authorities in encouraging lay Catholics to actively participate in the program by practical activities and contributions, such as voluntary donation of land for improving rural roads and installing light system, tree planting, etc., contributing to help Nghia Son commune to meet the new rural standards in 2017. The Military Command in the district has also coordinated with the pastoral council of Dai De parish for enhancing local youth’s awareness and responsibility for protecting the Homeland by ready joining the military service.  As a result, from two to three young Catholics in the district have volunteered to join the army each year.

In addition, the Military Command in the district in collaboration with local authorities has strengthened the communication and advocacy works on amongst religious communities. 

According to Lieutenant Colonel Bùi Thái Sơn, Deputy Head of the military command  in the district, in the first six months 2021, the district political command has held disseminating conferences on the Law on Military Service, the Law on Militia and Self-Defense, the Law on Reserves and Mobilization, and the “all people protect national security” movement to 293 religious dignitaries and deacons in the locality.

As reported, Catholics in Nghia Hung district account for nearly 50% the district population, the highest rate as compared to other districts and cities in the province, with 27 parishes, 97 sub-parishes, 124 worshiping churches, 39 priests.
