Ha Tinh province is currently home to 160,000 Catholic followers belonging to 60 parishes and 156 communities and residing in all 13 districts of the province.
For past five years, Catholics in the province have made many practical contributions to the socio-economic development in the locality.
During the past five years, over 3,500 Catholic households in the city have donated over 220.000 square meters of land for expanding village roads, footpaths in alleys and inter-village roads, planted 162,000 trees of different kinds along local roads, provided 293,000 working days for developing 48 kilometers of concrete roads, 76 kilometers of hard-surface road systems with the total value of tens of billion VND.
Many Catholic dignitaries have been regarded as shining examples in implementing the movement for new rural and urban development launched in the province. In particular, Former Priest of Nghia Yen parish Peter Nguyễn Thái Từ supported the building of 11 charity houses for the poor, including two non-Catholic people.
For acknowledgement of outstanding contributions to new rural and urban civilization development in localities, the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to Priest Peter Nguyễn Thái Từ, Former Priest of Kim Lan parish Francis Nguyễn Tiến Dũng and Priest of Cam Lam parish Peter Thân Văn Chất.
