In the first lunar month of the traditional New Year 2020, Buddhists in the provinces proactively engaged in social, charitable activities for supporting disadvantaged people.
In Bac Lieu province, a charity program was held on February 13 in Minh Dieu commune, Hoa Binh district by the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee and a charitable group from Buu Linh pagoda.
During the event, Senior Venerable Thích Huệ Thường, Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee presented 30 million VND to the family of Mr Phạm Quốc Khánh who suffered a traumatic brain injury caused by a traffic accident.
In Dong Nai province, Senior Venerable Thích Nguyên Thông, Deputy Head of Long Thanh district’s charity board cum Abbot of Phuoc Quang pagoda presented on February 11 63 gift sets to youths from communes of Phuoc Thai, Phuoc Binh and Tan Hiep with a total value of 25 VND billion on occasion of their military service beginning this year.

On February 15, Vau pagoda in Dong Trieu district, Quang Ninh province presented glass water bottles to local people with the aim to prevent acute respiratory infections caused by Corona virus.
The event handed over 2,750 glass water bottles to Buddhists, the elderly association, pupils and other locals in the locality.
On this occasion, Senior Venerable Thích Bảo Minh, Abbot of Vau Pagoda urged local people to take safe measures for preventing diseases and effectively respond to the environment protection movement “reducing the use of plastic bags”.
Reportedly, Vau pagoda handed out 4,000 glass water bottles in this month.
