Venerable Thích Thiện Nghĩa, Deputy Head of the Charity Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in the southern province of Ben Tre held separate ceremonies on April 11 for inaugurating social and charitable works in the province.
Present at the ceremonies held in collaboration with local authorities and Hanh Nguyen Buddhist Club in Ho Chi Minh City founded by the Buddhist monk included representatives of the VBS and local authorities, and large numbers of Lay Buddhists and locals.
The completed social and charitable works included a house for the poor in Thanh Phu district which Hanh Nguyen Buddhist Club contributed 40 million VND, and a concrete road of 623m long and 1.5m wide in Dinh Trung commune of the province’s Binh Dai district which the Buddhist club donated 200 packs of cement.
On the same day, the construction of another charitable house for the poor sponsored by Hanh Nguyen Club was also kicked off in Thanh Phu district.

These social, charitable works are considered as practical activities for celebrating the 40th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
