The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Phu Tho has successfully raised over 3.6 billion VND for social and charitable programs for the last nine months of 2020.
In the Covid-10 prevention and control work, the VBS in Phu Tho has presented 1.3 billion VND to the fund for COVID-19 prevention and control, of which 650 million VND was handed over to the provincial health department for setting up a pressure room for treatment of patients infected with the new virus.
The most outstanding charitable program run by the VBS in Phu Tho is the charity kitchen “Love Porridge” offered to patients at local hospitals. This program was first launched Phu Tho General Hospital in 2014, and now operates at 100% of hospitals and health centers in all Phu Tho’s districts and provincial cities.
Currently, the VBS in Phu Tho spends 150 million VND each year on running this charitable kitchen at Phu Tho General Hospital.
In addition, monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in Phu Tho have proactively engaged in activities for helping victims of natural calamities, building charitable houses, presenting gifts to students from poor families with good school results and supporting education promotion, etc.
