The executive board of Hoa Hao Buddhist Church in Tan Mỹ commune of Dong Thap province’s Thanh Binh district has held a meeting to review its established club for environment protection and climate change in 2020.
The event saw the presence of representatives from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in the district, authorities in Tan My commune, and 29 members of the club.
As reported, during the 2020, members of the club has collected over 1,450 kilogram of bags and bottles used in packing pesticide, and placed them in 10 places for storage, practically contributing to environment protection in local residential areas.
In addition, Buu Thanh pagoda located in Tan Thanh commune in collaboration with local authorities and sponsors has presented 100 gift sets worth 300 million VND to poor and near poor households in the commune, each containing 10 kg of rice, one barrel of noodles and 100,000 VND in cash.
