Social, charitable activities of Buddhist Temple under Pure-Land Buddhist Association in Tien Giang

Social and charitable activities in 2016 of Hung Hoa Tu Temple under the Pure-Land Buddhist Association in Tien Giang province’s Chau Thanh district was reviewed at a meeting held on December 29.

Attending the meeting included Chairman of the provincial Pure-Land Buddhist Association’s Executive Committee Trần Công Chức, Head of Hung Hoa Tu Temple’s Management Board Nguyễn Văn Đức, and representatives of the charity health board and followers in the locality. Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Văn Khuê was amongst guests representing local authorities at the event.

As reported at the meeting, during the year, Hung Hoa Tu Temple contributed over VND 538 million to activities of medical charities, and provided four tons of semi-processed medicines to charity clinics of other temples belonging to the Buddhist Association. 

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman Trần Văn Khuê spoke highly of achievements in health-care activities obtained by the temple over the past year, and shared that the law on belief and religion formally approved by the National Assembly in November would further encourage and create favorable legal conditions for religious organizations and individuals to conduct social, charitable activities.
