Seventh-tenure central VBS executive body holds third conference

 The third conference of the seven-term central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council took place in Jan. 23-24 at its Southern Office in Ho Chi Minh city (294 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street).

The conference was attended by members of the VBS Discernment Council, members of the Standing Committee of the central VBS Executive Council and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries and followers.

Guests to this Buddhist event included representatives from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA), the Central Party’s Commission for Mass Mobilization, the Central Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and local authorities.

The Buddhist Affairs in 2014 was marked many great Buddhist events domestically and internationally, especially the successful organization of the 11th UN Day of Vesak 2014 hosted by the VBS at Bai Dinh pagoda in province of Ninh Binh from May 7-11, 2014.

As the country will hold many big national celebrations in 2015, including 70th National Day Anniversary and 40th National Unification Anniversary, the VBS executive bodies at all levels pledged to promote the propagation of practical Buddhist values into to the real life of Vietnamese society under a set theme “Buddhism accompanies the nation in the period of international integration’./.
