By April 18, 2021, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels completed the third consultation conference to select and announce the list of qualified candidates to run for the 15th National Assembly.
In the list of 868 candidates for the upcoming election, there are seven candidates who are dignitaries and deacons of Buddhism, Catholicism and Caodaism.
Among them, there are five dignitaries and deacons that have been elected to the 14th National Assembly, namely Priest John Baptist Nguyễn Văn Riễn, Most Venerable Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Senior Venerable Thích Thanh Quyết, Senior Venerable Lý Minh Đức, and Nun Thích nữ Tín Liên. The other two candidates nominated for the first time are Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Archbishop Ngọc Hồng Thanh of the Tay Ninh Caodai Church.
