Seminar on Uncle Hồ and Buddhism held in Nghe An

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) Central Committee for Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the Institute for Religious Studies under Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the VBS Executive Committee in Nghe An province held on May 8 a seminar themed “Uncle Hồ and Buddhism”.

The event taking place at Diec pagoda in Vinh city saw the participation of Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Vice President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council cum Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee, Senior Venerable Thích Thọ Lạc, Head of the VBS’s Central Committee for Cultural Affairs cum Vice Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng, Director of the Institute for Religious Studies Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chu Văn Tuấn, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee in Nghe An Lê Hồng Vinh, representatives from local authorities, professors, researchers, scholars, etc.

The seminar focused Buddhist influences on President Hồ Chí Minh and Nguyễn Sinh Sắc - his father; Ho Chi Minh's thoughts and policies towards Buddhism; Current values of President Hồ Chí Minh’s thoughts and policies on Buddhism.

The organizing board has received 50 articles covering many topics, and providing more valuable information and documents on Uncle Hồ and Buddhism from monks, nuns, scholars and researchers across the country.
