The northern provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Duong and Bac Giang held on June 29 a scientific seminar on ranking criteria for the Complex of Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape.

The event saw the participation of Vice Chairwoman of the People’s Committee in Quang Ninh Nguyễn Thị Hạnh, and several experts from the country and overseas.
The complex of Yên Tử Monuments and Landscapes consists of over 70 relics and comprises of four clusters of special national historical relics: the Yên Tử historical relic and landscape area in Uong Bi City, the Trần Dynasty historical relic area in Quang Ninh’s province Đông Triều Town, the WesternYen Tu relic and landscape area in Bac Giang province, and the Con Son – Kiep Bac complex in Hải Dương province.
These places are home to many natural landscapesand architectural and artistic works, as well as the birthplace and development of the Vietnamese Zen Buddhism Center founded by King - Monk Trần Nhân Tông. The complex of Yen Tu monuments and landscapes is associated with the birth and development of the Tran Dynasty (1225-1400) and typical religious and cultural space of Truc Lam Zen sect.
In order to complete the World Heritage recognition dossier, the seminarparticipants discussed ranking criteria, the cultural space, categories of relics, and inter-provincial heritage management model – a new model in heritage management in Vietnam.
During seminar, participating experts also highly appreciated values of geology, geomorphology, biodiversity, and cultural and historical values of the Yen Tu relics and landscapes.
