The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) held on July 2 a seminar on inheriting, preserving and promoting traditional values of Buddhist rites in the integration period in Hai Phong city.
The event saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Thiện Pháp, Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Committee for Clergy Affairs; Most Venerable Thích Quảng Tùng, Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Hai Phong city; Most Venerable Thích Huệ Minh, Chairman of the VBS’s Committee for Buddhist Rites, and large numbers of monks and nuns from boards of ritual affairs of VBS’s chapters in provinces and cities.

Distinguished guests at the event included Director of the Buddhist Affairs Department under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Lê Minh Khánh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee in Hai Phong city Lê Khắc Nam, Deputy Director of the Home Affairs Department Đào Duy Phương, Chairman of the city Committee for Religious Affairs Dương Ngọc Anh, and large numbers of scholars and researchers.
The event preceding the 9th national congress of the VBS to be held in November, 2022 aimed to implement a working plan of the VBS’s Committee for Ritual Affairs in inheriting, preserving and promoting traditional values of Buddhist rites, contributing to the sustainable development of the VBS in the 21st century.
The seminar’s organizing board received 43 presentation papers from participating Buddhist monks, nuns, scholars and researchers.
