Seminar on Muslim community in Vietnam held in An Giang

An Giang provincial Committee for Religious Affairs in collaboration with the Institute of Religious Studies under the Vietnam Academy for Social Sciences held on June 30, 2020 a seminar on the Muslim community in Vietnam.  

The event themed “Cham Islam community in Vietnam, situation, issues and recommended policies” was co-chaired by Chairman of the provincial religious committee Lê Nguyên Châu and Assoc. Prof., Dr. Chu Văn Tuấn, Director of the Institute of Religious Studies.

The seminar focused on discussion of results of the state management on Islam in the province, the Cham and Cham Muslim communities in the province; international relations of the Cham Muslim community in Vietnam, the preservation and promotion of the traditional artistic culture of Islam, etc..

The seminar aimed to clarify the current situation and changes to the Cham Muslim community in the country in general and the province in particular, in order to recommend state’ policies for meeting current legitimate needs of religious practice of the locals.
