The department of culture, sports and tourism in Quang Binh province held on October 15 a seminar on Cau Ngu Festival of Coastal Fishermen in Quang Binh.
During the event, the seminar participants discussed the origin of the festival, performing rituals and activities during the festival, as well as solutions to preserve and promote the traditional values of the festival in the coming time.
The seminar is part of efforts to preserve the festival values in coastal residential areas in Quang Binh and serves a research foundation for recommending the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to recognize the whale worshipping in the province as a national intangible heritage.
The Cau Ngu (Whale worshipping) festival in the province has been held annually right after Lunar New Year praying for bumper and safe voyages in the year, contributing to protect the nation’s sovereignty over sea and islands.
