Roof of renovated Thuong pagoda – Ngoa Van temple in Quang Ninh completed

The executive committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Quang Ninh province solemnly held on August 4 a ceremony for completing the new roof Thuong pagoda – Ngoa Van temple.

Present at the event included Senior Venerable Thích Đạo Hiển, Vice Chairman cum Secretary of the VBS executive committee, representatives from Dong Trieu provincial city’s authorities, and several monks, nuns and lay Buddhists.

Due to the current Covid-19 epidemic outbreak, the ceremony was internally held with only worshipping rituals.

The renovation of Thuong pagoda - Ngoa Van temple was  started in December 2020, and covers three main areas of the fairy chess board area, the temple tower and auxiliary facilities, creating a entirely new space and landscape of the pagoda.

Ngoa Van temple is an important relic belonging to the spiritual land of Yen Tu Truc Lam Buddhist Zen sect. In the spiritual and cultural life of Vietnamese people, Ngoa Van temple has a particularly important position because it was the last stop in the Buddhist life of King Monk Trần Nhân Tông.

Ngoa Van temple Spring Festival is annually held on the 9th day of the first lunar month to offer incense to King Monk Trần Nhân Tông and welcome locals and visitors for worshiping.
