Results of state administration on religion in Thai Nguyen

Thai Nguyen province currently has three operative religions of Buddhism, Catholicism and Protestantism with 116 religious dignitaries, 1,709 deacons and about 133,853 lay followers.

Over the past years, the Committee for Religious Affairs in Thai Nguyen has advised the provincial People’s Committee to concretize the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws on belief and religion through plans, programs and projects, suiting the practical situation in the locality.

In 2021 and the first six months of 2022, the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs organized training courses on belief and religious affairs in localities with the participation of nearly 1,000 people, as well as collaborated with the Government Committee for Religious Affairs to hold disseminating conferences on the State Law on Belief and Religion for cadres tasked with religious affairs, religious dignitaries, deacons, followers, representatives and the management boards of belief worshipping places in the province.

local authorities have regularly inspected the implementation of state administration on religious affairs in district-level authorities and enhanced professional skills for cadres tasked with religious affairs, as well as improved the implementation of the administrative reform and digital transformation in management, and implemented 4-level online administrative procedures relating to belief and religion on the National Public Service Portal.

In addition, local authorities have also held exchange meetings with local religious organizations to promptly grasp and resolve legitimate needs of religious organizations in accordance with the law. Up to now, 114 out of 195 Buddhist worshipping places and 45 out of 54 Catholic worshipping places have been granted certificates of land use rights.

Since 2018, local religious organizations have presented thousands of support packages worth 4,3 billion VND to beneficiaries families, disadvantaged households, children and people with disabilities; built 13 charity households for families under specially circumstances; collaborated with Trung Vuong Hospital  in Ho Chi Minh city to provide free eye surgery for 650 poor patients; presented relief supplies worth three billion VND to flood victims in the Central region, etc.
