The World Environment Day (June 5) 2022 launched by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) with the theme "Only One Earth" focuses on living sustainably in harmony with nature, rational use of natural resources, biodiversity and climate change adaption.

In the dispatch, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment urges ministries and relevant agencies to arrange practical activities including hanging banners, panels and posters (eco-friendly products) at public areas, offices and other suitable places, cleaning the environment, plant trees, collecting waste, as well as further promoting propaganda on not using degradable plastic bags and single-use plastic products and environmentally friendly products and services.

Relevant ministries and agencies are also requested to focus on propagating and disseminating the implementation of the Law on Environment Protection 2020, including solutions for improving environmental qualities and protecting people’s health; economic development associated with environmental protection and climate change adaption; a roadmap for collecting, classifying and treating domestic waste and plastic waste at source, promoting sustainable and friendly consumption, and building strategies, schemes and projects on environment protection.

The revised Law on Environmental Protection 2020 took effect from January 1, 2022. Accordingly, this is a period of strong transformation in environmental protection towards improving environmental quality, protecting people’s health, ecological balance, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable economic development.
