Ha Giang authorities in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in the province held on July 11 a requiem for martyrs at the Vi Xuyen’s National Martyrs’ Cemetery in the province.
The event chaired by Venerable Thích Gia Quang, Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s chapter in the province and attended by representatives from central agencies, ministries and provincial authorities, Buddhist dignitaries of the VBS chapters in Nghe An and Ho Chi Minh city, and large numbers of veterans, relatives of martyrs and locals.
The requiem taking place on occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27th practically contributed to pay the debt of gratitude to those sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom, independence and integrity.
During the event, Buddhists and participating officials offered incense and flowers, and performed Buddhist rites to pray for the spiritual uplifting of fallen soldiers.
