Requiem for traffic accident victims held in An Giang

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in An Giang province in collaboration with the provincial Traffic Safety Committee and Thoai Son district authorities held on November 17 a requiem in Truc Lam Zen monastery to pray for traffic accident victims.   

The requiem with the theme “Remembrance for the deceased, for the sake of the living” aimed to warn about the causes and risks of traffic accidents in Vietnam in general, and An Giang province, in particular.

During the ceremony, delegates and large numbers of Buddhist followers and locals gathered to pray for the peace of the victims’ souls.

On the occasion, the provincial Traffic Safety Committee presented gifts to relatives of traffic victims in the province.

According to the data of the Ministry of Transport, more than 6,300 people were killed and 10,800 others injured in traffic accidents in the first ten months of this year. In particular, An Giang province had 55 people died of traffic accidents.
