The Traffic Safety Board of Ho Chi Minh City’s District 12 in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha chapter’s Executive Board in the district held a requiem ceremony for road traffic victims in 2020.
The ceremony took place at Vinh Phuoc pagoda in Tan Thoi Nhat ward of district 12 on occasion of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (15/11).
Attending the event included leaders of the traffic safety committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the traffic safety board of District 12, dignitaries of the VBS’s executive board, and large numbers of monks, nuns, lay Buddhists and relations of victims who died of road traffic accidents.
During the ceremony, Buddhist monks, nuns and participants performed Buddhist traditional rites to pray for the spiritual uplifting of those died from road traffic accidents, occupational accidents, natural disasters and fire accidents.
The ceremony also aimed to raise a warns of road traffic accidents’ cause and effect, as well as mobilize practical supports for helping of families of road traffic victims.
As reported, District 12 has been 134 road traffic accidents killing 45 people, injuring 121 people in 2020 (reducing 11 cases, increasing 5 deaths, decreasing 15 injured people in comparison with the same period last year). In addition, 85 people died from other accidents.
