Over the past years, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) in Bac Kan and local religious organizations have launched practical models for environment protection and climate change adaption in residential areas and religious communities, contributing to raise positive changes in awareness and practical actions in religious communities.
According to the Vice Chairman of the provincial VFF Committee Ma Nhật Hoài, the implementation of the coordination agreement on protection environment and climate change adaptation between the VFF, the department of natural resources and environment and local religious organizations, the VFF at levels have resulted in the launching of practical models for environment protection in each residential area.
Currently, two working models with the title “residential and religious communities participate in environment protection and climate change adaption” have been developed in Cho Moi district and Bac Kan city. In these two models, local religious organizations have proactively encouraged lay people to take part practical activities such as proper disposal of waste and, cleaning up their environment surrounding, etc for environmental protection.
These models have created a radical change in awareness of local people in environment protection and climate change adaption. All waste of each household have been brought to right places and roads and the village roads have been kept clean. In worshiping places, religious dignitaries have also actively persuaded local people and visitors to limit votive papers burning.
