Religious followers nation-wide cast ballots in national elections

On May 23, Catholic followers in Hue city went to the polls early for casting their vote while strictly observing regulations for the Covid-19 pandemic prevention such as wearing masks, undertaking temperature check and keeping a distance from other voters.

In the polling station of Phuoc Vinh ward, sisters of the Lovers of Holy Cross congregation and Catholics of Phu Cam parish has completed their vote in the morning.

In Vinh Ninh ward, local authorities set up a polling station in Hue Archdiocese’s office, making easier for priests and clergies of the Congregation of Sacred Heart to cast their ballot while avoiding large gatherings for the pandemic prevention.

In Vinh Long province, joining voters across the country, Khmer voters also exercised the right and duty to select deputies to the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for 2021-2026.

Vinh Long province currently has 22,600 Khmer people, accounting for 2.21% the provincial population.

In Tay Ninh province, on May 23 morning, hundreds of Caodai people gathered early at the polling station No. 584 in Long Kim street, Long Thanh Trung ward, Tay Ninh province’s Hoa Thanh district, for casting first votes.

In this election, Long Thanh ward has 16,460 voters with 90% of them following Caodaism.

Tay Ninh province has over one million voters with 176 polling stations in nine districts and communes in the province.

In Binh Thuan province, together with nearly one million voters in the province, over 80% voters, belonging to Cham ethnic in Phan Thanh commune of Bac Binh district, went to polling stations for casting their vote.

Religious Chief Xích Dự, Chairman of the Cham Bani Islamic Dignitaries Council in the province has went to the polling station No.5 in Phan Thanh commune early and attended the opening ceremony at the polling station.
