Religious followers in Nam Dinh make practical contributions to social development

Nam Dinh province has a large number of religious followers. In particular, Buddhism has 30,000 Buddhists with 800 pagodas. Catholicism has 47,000   parishioners, accounting for 25% the provincial population with 662 churches.  

Over the past years, religious followers in Nam Dinh province have actively joint in social movements and programs launched by local authorities for helping the poor, fighting social evils, protecting environment, etc .

During the past five years, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee in the province raised fund for completing 200 charity houses for the poor in the locality. Catholics also have donated 20,000 m2 of land and contributed 200 billion VND for developing rural roads and building public facilities such as community centers in villages.
