The event drew the presence of Chairman of the VFF committee Lê Thành Công, and 100 participants who are representatives from concerning authorities, religious organizations, and faith-based clubs involved in environmental protection in the province.

As reported at the meeting, since 2015, religious organizations in Tra Vinh (Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Hoa Hao Buddhist Church, Catholic Church, Vietnam Evangelical Church, Buu Son Ky Huong, several Caodai sects, etc) have disseminated state laws on environmental protection to religious followers, and incorporated environmental protection contents into religious training courses and meetings of religious organizations.

So far, with various initiatives, religious organizations in the province have also 142 clubs established for environmental protection and climate change adaptation with the total of over 7,800 members. Specifically the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church set up 52 clubs, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha established 44 clubs, Tay Ninh Caodai Church had 20 clubs, the Vietnam Catholic Church operated 12 clubs, and the Vietnam Evangelical Church (South) run 4 clubs.

Practical activities of these clubs included collection, classification and proper discharge of garbage and waste in regular bases, limit use of plastic bags, planting of trees and flowers in open and public places, cleaning of canals, outdoor sewage clearing, installment of light systems, self-process of organic waste, open and public places kept clean and green, etc.

On the occasion, 6 religious organizations and 12 religious individuals were presented with certificates of commendation by the provincial VFF committee in honor of their practical contributions to the environmental protection and climate change adaptation in the province.
