In spite of the Covid-19 outbreak, the committee for religious affairs in the southern province of An Giang has well completed key tasks of the state administration on belief and religion set for 2021.
The provincial religious committee has successfully held a training workshop on the state administration on religion for 188 participants who are personnel from the district-level offices in charge of home affairs, culture and information, and commune-level cadres in charge of religious affairs in the province.
With guidance and supports of the provincial sector on belief and religion, the district-level congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s chapters in the province’s districts for 2021-2026 tenure has been successfully convened.
In addition, legitimate needs of belief establishments and religious organizations for appointments and ordainments of religious dignitaries, transfers of religious clerics, construction and renovation of religious construction, etc, have timely been addressed.

Given guidance and supports from the provincial committee for religious affairs, religious organizations and followers in An Giang have proactively taken preventive measures against the Covid-19 pandemic, and sent supplies to hospitals and medical centers in support of their the pandemic prevention and control work, as well as made practical contributions to the funds set up for the pandemic prevention and control and helping those badly affected by Covid-19.

The southern province of An Giang is currently home to 11 operative religions, with 523 places of religious worship, and 266 establishment of belief worshiping.
