Responding to a call by Tien Giang provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, local religious organizations have made practical contributions to the fund set up for gathering supports for fighting the Covid-19 epidemic
During the social distancing following the Government’s directive on the pandemic’s controlling measures from April 1 to 15, religions in the province have contributed 304 million VND to the Covid-19 prevention work, including 200 million from the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, 15 million VND from the Tay Ninh Caodai Church, 29 million VND from Ante-Creation Caodai Church, 20 million VND from Vietnam (Binh Duc) Caodai Church, 5 million VND from the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (South) and 35 million VND from the Pure-land Buddhist Association.
In addition, given difficulties caused by drought and saltwater intrusion in the province, local religious organizations have installed two filters to provide clean water to local people, supported 3,900 bottles of drinking water and presented nearly 1,000 gift boxes containing rice, noodles, cooking oil, sugar, facemasks, etc to the poor in the locality.
