Religions in Dong Thap actively participate in environmental protection, social charities

A religious group for environmental protection and climate change response in Tan Thuan Tay commune, Dong Thap province’s Cao Lanh city in collaboration with local authorities held on July 20 a program for clearing and cleaning environmental space and collecting rubbishes in the locality.
On July 19, Senior Venerable Thích Minh Nhật in An Hoa Nhat village, Tan Binh commune, Chau Thanh district in collaboration with charity groups from Ho Chi Minh city presented 110 gift boxes to poor people in the locality, each gift set contains rice, noodles, cooking oil, salt, sugar, worth 225 thousand VND.
Nun Thích Nữ Như Ân, Abbess of Bach Lien pagoda (Tan Hung village, Tan Thuan Tay district) in collaboration with sponsors has established a vegetarian restaurant “smile charity” located in No. 55, Phu Dong street, My Phu ward, Cao Lanh city with the aims to share difficulties with the poor and lottery sellers in the locality. The restaurant has served lunch from Monday to Friday with the average of 80 meals each day.
