Ca Mau province currently has six operative religions recognized by the State, namely Buddhism, Catholicism, Protestantism, Caodaism, Vietnam Pure Land Buddhist Association and Hoa Hao Buddhism with over 373,000 followers, accounting for 30.7% of the province’ total population.
In the first 6 months of 2016, religious followers and organizations in the province contributed 25 billions VND to social charities including rural transport development, drilling wells for clean water, building charitable houses; providing wheelchairs for the elderly and disabled, free medical examination and medicines, presenting meals, hot water to patients at some hospitals, etc.
In addition, local dignitaries and believers have also actively participated in movements launched by provincial authorities for social - economic development in the province./.
