Reconstruction of Pagoda – Historical & Cultural Relic in Bac Ninh started

A solemn ground-breaking ceremony for the reconstruction of Phuc An Pagoda – Historical & Cultural Relic located in Bac Ninh province’s Tien Du district was held on September 29.

The ceremony saw the presence of Ven. Thích Thanh Dũng, Deputy Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) cum Secretary of the VBS’s Patronage Council; Ven. Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the Central Committee for Dharma Propagation; Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Tử Quỳnh; and large numbers of local officials and Buddhist dignitaries.

According to written documents, Phuc An Pagoda was built in 1599, and the pagoda was upgraded in 1993 by locals. In 2010 Bhiksu Thích Quảng An came to the pagoda for guiding Buddhist practices and he was promoted as the pagoda abbot in 2013. The Buddhist temple complex was recognized as a historical and cultural relic in 2011.
