Reconstruction of Buddhist pagodas in Yen Thanh

Yen Thanh district in Nghe An province currently has 32 Buddhist groups (Ashram) with 12,000 members in 27 out of 39 communes in the locality.

For recent years, a number of pagodas has been rebuilt or upgraded, thanks to support from provincial authorities.

Gam pagoda (Chi Linh pagoda) located in Xuan Thanh commune was approved for reconstruction by the provincial government in 2012. The pagoda now has new and spacious construction facilities such as the three-entrance gate, monk and guest houses, a sanctum, steeples, a library, and a canteen, etc.

The pagoda has organized annual important Buddhist events, especially the pagoda festival that attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Bao Lam pagoda

Bao Lam pagoda located in Hoa Thanh commune is an ancient pagoda built under Lý Dynasty. The pagoda currently preserves many ancient artifacts with hundreds of years old.

The pagoda is now also in the process of rebuilding its facilities where a number of constructions have been completed including the guest and monk houses, a sanctum, and a meditation room, etc.

As reported, Huong pagoda located in My Thanh commune was also approved for reconstruction by the provincial government. Others pagodas such as Tanh, Hau, Non Nuoc, Trung, Bao Luong, Van Son, Thien Tai, Thien Tam, Kim Lien, Yen, Truyen Trach are also in the process of completing the reconstruction dossier.

In particular, Truc Lam Yen Thanh Buddhist Zen monastery located in Ru Gam spiritual-cultural area is being constructed. The monastery includes various worshipping and supporting facilities bearing the imprint of the contemporary Vietnamese Buddhist culture in North Central region.
