Raglai, K’ho people in Binh Thuan celebrates new rice ceremony

On occasion of the new rice ceremony 2020 in Binh Thuan, the authorities paid on January 26 congratulating visits to Raglai and K’ho people living in four mountainous communes of Phan Lam, Phan Son, Phan Dien and Phan Tien in Bac Binh district.

During the visits, representatives from local authorities extended warm celebrations of the new rice festival to local people and expressed hope that local people would continue promoting fine traditions and making contributions for the development of the locality.

These days, Raglai and K'ho ethnic minorities have been welcoming new rice ceremony. All the villages and hamlets are excited in the joy of a new rice season.

The new rice ceremony (Tet dau lua) is a traditional festival of Raglai and K’ho ethnic groups in Binh Thuan province’s Bac Binh district. The celebration of the new rice ceremony consists of many traditional rites including new-rice offerings to the God and ancestors, prayers for favorable weather. It also shows people’s gratitude and strong faith on rice and prays for a bumper crop.

This year, Bac Binh district has organized a cultural and sports festival on January 26-27 in Phan Lam commune. The festival featured many art performances and folk games.
