On April 3, Quang Ngai provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee held the 5th general congress for the term 2016 – 2022 at Phap Hoa pagoda.
Attending the congress were Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, representatives from VBS in the provinces of Binh Dinh and Quang Nam, and over 500 monks, nuns and followers in the province.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lê Quang Thích and local authorities’ representatives also attended the event.
At the event, Vice Chairman Lê Quang Thích spoke highly of results recorded by the provincial VBS Executive Committee in the past term and urged Buddhist dignitaries and followers to promote fine traditions of the Buddhist Church, contributing to socio-economic development in the country in the next term. He also presented a certificate of merit of Quang Ngai provincial People’s Committee to the 4th VBS Executive Committee.
The one-day congress elected 47 members of the new-term VBS Executive Committee and 21 members of the Standing Board for 2016 – 2022 tenure with Most Venerable Thích Hạnh Lạc as the Committee Chairman.
