A seminar on ancient documents written in old Chinese – old Vietnamese characters (Han – Nom) in Quang Ngai province was held on July 16.
The seminar themed “Han – Nom documents in Quang Ngai - value, current situation and preservation measures” draw presentations by experts from the Han – Nom Research Institute, Vietnam National Museum of History, Social Sciences and Humanities University, Vietnamese Association of Historical Sciences, Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies branch in Hue city, etc.
As reported at the event, localities including Ong mausoleum, Mỹ Huệ village, Bui Ta Han temple and Hoa Son pagoda in Quang Ngai province currently keep 58 official notes and documents issued by Nguyễn kings and Quang Trung emperor for presenting honorable titles to distinguished individuals or outstanding places.
The seminar proposed solutions for preserving ancient Han – Nom documents, including collection, translation, classification, digitalization and microfilm of the documents, as well as the innovation in assessing the documents at libraries, etc.
