On January 10, Quang Binh provincial People’s Committee in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) held a ceremony to check the reconstruction and restoration of Hoang Phuc pagoda located in the province’s Le Thuy district.
Attending the event included Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Hữu Hoài, Venerable General Secretary of the VBS Thích Đức Thiện, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam Trần Bắc Hà, and representatives of local authorities.
Hoang Phuc pagoda is the oldest Buddhist temple in Quang Binh province, with its long history of over 700 years. It is not only the Buddhist worshipping place but also a cultural and historical center in the country.
The reconstruction and restoration of Hoang Phuc pagoda was started in November 2014, with an estimated cost of over VND 40 billion raised from the non-government sources. It’s reported the main facilities of Hoang Phuc pagoda have been basically completed after nearly 14 months of reconstruction.
