On January 16, Hoang Phuc pagoda in Quang Binh province’s Le Thuy district held a ceremony for receiving the certificate of National Historic Relic.
Hoang Phuc pagoda, located in Quang Binh province’s Le Thuy district, has a history of over 700 years. In late 2015, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism classified the pagoda as National Historic Relic.
Historically, King-Monk Trần Nhân Tông visited Tri Kien pagoda (Hoang Phuc pagoda nowadays) and conducted prayers for people’s happiness and prosperity in 1301. King Minh Mạng renamed the temple as Hoang Phuc pagoda during a visit to the worshipping place in 1821. The pagoda was also a hiding place for revolutionary members during the war against French colonialists.
Once its reconstruction and restoration completed, Hoang Phuc pagoda will be a center for religious as well as cultural activities for local people.
