
On February 27-28, Hoang Phuc pagoda festival was organized for the first time in My Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province.
Distinguished guests at the festival opening ceremony included former Chairman of the Government Office Đoàn Mạnh Giao, Venerable Secretary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Thích Đức Thiện, Chairman of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam Trần Bắc Hà, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Hoàng Đăng Quang and large numbers of Buddhist followers and tourists inside and outside the locality.
The festival was held with a series of activities included water procession, Buddhist rites and practices, prayers for peace and prosperity, and folk games such as keo co, volleyball and chess.
These activities aimed to uphold cultural values of historical relics of Hoang Phuc pagoda with its long history of over 700 years as well as express gratitude to King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong who established the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen and preached Buddhist teachings in this area in 1301.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman of the provincial People Committee presented the certificate of recognition Hoang Phuc pagoda historical relic as a local tourist destination.
