A ceremony for receiving a certificate classsifying Canh Tien pagoda in Quang Binh province’s Quang Ninh district as a provincial historic relic was held on August 16.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of local authorities, Quang Binh provincial VBS Excutive Committee and large numbers of Buddhists and locals in the locality.
Historically, Canh Tien pagoda was originally built around the end of the seventeenth century by Mandarin Nguyễn Hữu Dật (1603-1680) and upgraded many times under the Nguyen Dynasty. Canh Tien pagoda has many links to historical events in the coming and it was a hiding place for revolutionaries for national independence.
For historical values of the pagoda, Quang Binh province People's Committee has classified Canh Tien pagoda as one of historic relic in the province./.
