Responding to a plan of the government Committee for Religious Affairs, the Public Security Department in the southern province of Bac Lieu has launched a program for advocating the national flag raising at religious places and followers’ home.
As part of the program, the public security in Bac Lieu has presented 200 national flags to six religious organizations in the province and local religious places and prestigious followers of religions in the locality.
According to Col. Trương Công Dũng, Deputy Director of the public security department in Bac Lieu, the advocacy program on national flag raising has received proactive and voluntary responses from leaders and members of religious organizations and places on national days or events, as well as consensus of people in the locality.
Ven. Thích Giác Nghi, Vice Chairman of the executive committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’ chapter in Bac Lieu shared that the Buddhist executive committee and Buddhist followers in the province have all supported the national flag raising, and the raising of the national flag is a fine tradition showing the national spirit and patriotism.
Priest Joseph Võ Văn Hoài, Head of the Committee for Solidarity of Catholics in Bac Lieu, and Pastor Nguyễn Tấn Phúc from the Representative Committee of the Vietnam Evangelical Church (South) in the province also informed that Christians in the locality have well responded to the advocacy work for raising the national flag at religious worshipping places, and regarded it as a responsibility and a practical contribution of citizens of the country of Vietnam.
