Program on religious engagement in environmental protection and taking care of poor people launched in Hau Giang

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s Board in Phung Hiep district’s Phuong Binh commune of Hau Giang province in collaboration with Buu An pagoda launched on September 29 the program on religious engagement in environmental protection and taking care of poor people for 2022.
Present at the event included Senior Venerable Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Economics and Finance Board in the province cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Board in Phung Hiep district Thích Thiện Kim, Senior Venerable Chairman of the VBS’s Culture Affairs Board in the province Thích Minh Phước, Venerable Chairman of the VBS’s Social Charity Board in the province cum Abbot of Buu An pagoda Thích Trí Thuyền, and Vice Chairman of the provincial VFF’s Committee Lê Văn Sơn.
During the launching ceremony, representatives of authorities informed contents of the program, including the current situation and causes of the environmental pollution and climate change, impacts on people life, as well as practical measures for reducing risks of disasters and responding to climate change.
On the occasion, the VFF’s Board in the commune presented three sets of financial support to disadvantaged households; and Buu An pagoda handed over 10 bicycles to students from disadvantaged families with excellent school results and 50 sets of supports to poor people in the locality, with the total value of over 41 million VND.
